MSI B450M Pro-VDH (Our Review)

Overall Assessment

The MSI B450M Pro-VDH is an easy-to-expand motherboard that comes with many of the features you’d find on its brothers and sisters in the B450 range.

Despite the inclusion of helpful features, its future is limited as it lacks support for new processors as we found in the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC.

Supported Processors

This motherboard supports 1st and 2nd generation AMD processors. Users can go as high as the Ryzen 7 series if they’re looking for optimal performance.

If you want to look at an excellent Intel option, read through our MSI B250 PC Mate review for a great alternative motherboard.

RAM

The new B450M Pro-VDH allows users to install a whopping 128GB. This brings it in competition with beastly motherboards like the MSI B450M Gaming Plus. DDR4 DIMM slots give you plenty of space to max out your system memory.

Peripherals

There are loads of USB ports to connect external devices like printers and keyboards. MSI fitted the board with 6x USB 3.1 ports and 8x USB 2.0 ports. This is more than enough for the business market.

The LAN and audio fidelity are run through industry-standard Realtek chips. It won’t blow the competition out of the water, but it manages to keep the MSI B450M Pro-VDH affordable while still providing adequate outputs.

Graphics

There’s only one PCIe 3.0 x 16 slot for dedicated graphics cards. We’re disappointed that it doesn’t support multiple graphics cards like the older MSI B250 PC Mate.

You can connect your monitors through the HDMI, DVI-D, or the standard VGA ports with a Ryzen processor with integrated graphics. If you’re looking for a motherboard for your office setup, this is ideal since you can hook up a video output without paying for extra cards you don’t need.

Conclusion

The MSI B450M Pro-VDH is a straightforward piece of equipment. It’s business-orientated, with all the essential features to keep your computers running smoothly for years.

MSI included access to the M.2 cloud for storing your files, along with an easy-to-optimize system environment.

While it’s an excellent motherboard, the MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC may be a better option if you plan to play some AAA games.
