Gigabyte X570 Gaming X Review (Our Review)

Overall Assessment

As the name implies, the Gigabyte X570 Gaming X is made with gamers in mind. It supports the AMD Ryzen 5000 series, the Ryzen 5000 G-Series, and 2nd and 3rd Gen Ryzen processors.

The X570 Gaming X is based on the AMD X570 chipset and has a gorgeous design that’s become a staple for Gigabyte motherboards. Similar designs are found in boards like the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming

Gigabyte hasn’t skimped on features despite the low price and the X570 is positively jam-packed. It includes selling points like full PCIe 4.0 and high-speed network designs.

The X570 Gaming X doesn’t quite measure up to the other gaming boards in Gigabyte’s arsenal in terms of performance. It has a slightly weaker 10+2 power delivery when compared to the other gaming motherboards, especially the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite which has a 12+2 power delivery.

The board is designed to improve thermal and power efficiency. It boosts the performance of the AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors. Overall, the X570 Gaming X is a great board for gamers looking for an affordable upgrade, and PC builders who are aiming to build an AMD system.

Features

One of the key features of the Gigabyte X570 Gaming X is the AMD StoreMI technology. The StoreMI improves traditional storage devices such as RAM, graphics cards, and hard drives which drastically reduces boot times.

StoreMI also combines the speed of an SSD with the capacity of HDDs into a single drive. This aims to improve the read/write speeds of the device to match the speed of the SDD and boost data transfer rates. This will massively improve the functioning of the more data-heavy applications on your computer.

The Gigabyte X570 Gaming X also sports an impressive full PCIe 4.0 layout, including PCIe 4.0 slots and M.2 connectors.

This design improves the performance and versatility of the board, especially for hardcore gamers.

The Smart Fan 5 feature allows your setup to maintain optimal temperatures while continuously delivering on performance. This allows users to switch up their fan headers to meet the needs of the thermal sensors in different areas of the board.

This feature also supports liquid cooling if you want to implement hybrid fan headers. The Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X has the same Smart Fan 5 feature.

Unfortunately, the X570 Gaming X doesn’t have the standard RGB lighting which is a staple in most new boards. Instead, it features RGB LED headers on the PCD and has 4-pin 12V and 3-pin LED strips.

If this is a dealbreaker for you, we recommend checking out the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard

For input and output options, the board has standard USB 3.1 G2 connections. There are four USB 3.1 G1 Type-A sports and two USB 2.0 ports. There’s also an HDMI video output on the rear panel board which is optimized for Ryzen APUs.

These inputs and outputs are shared with the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master

Customer Reviews

“I bought the Gigabyte X570 Gaming X for my Ryzen 3700x. I also added a stock cooler. I added 32GB of pc3200 OC’d RAM and a Radeon Vega64.

I also have 6 SATA drives attached with 4 additional case fans.

Thus far, the only limitation I experienced was the fan headers, but I got a $6 cable that gave me 3 more connections for that. I had no trouble setting up the BIOS and I even messed around with the overclocking.

You can’t beat it for the money, and it comes with full PCIe 4.0 support.”

5/5 Stars

“The Gigabyte X570 Gaming X is a nice motherboard. It is pretty simple, doesn’t have RGB, it is straight to the point, just like a grocery store trip without my wife. I wish it had Bluetooth capabilities and more places for fans.

The heating on the M.2 slot is a lifesaver. It is positioned right under my CPU cooler and the GPU.

This motherboard was a plug and play with my Ryzen 9 3900x and there was no need to update the BIOS.”
