Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Our Review)

Overall Assessment

While it’s certainly impressive, the B450M lacks many of the bells and whistles that Gigabyte motherboards are known for. However, it’s clear the manufacturer focused on providing an affordable product without sacrificing quality.

The controller choice for this board puts it in the lower range of AM4 boards, especially when compared to the Gigabyte X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard

However, the B450M makes up for this by including a good Realtek ALC887 audio codec. This component does a great job providing onboard audio.

Storage

The bulk of the storage components are the four SATA ports. All of the ports are straight angled slots which is common in lower-end motherboards. These slots support RAID 0,1 and 10 arrays.

These slots can hold four RAM cards if you’d like to bulk up the memory of your setup, which is great for most casual PC users.

Having four SATA slots is standard for most modern boards and can be seen in both the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Elite and Gigabyte B450 Aorus M.

Customer Reviews

Here is what customers have had to say:

“The Gigabyte B450M DS3H is a no-nonsense board that is able to support 4 full-sized DRAM SIMMS and has M.2 support which is very impressive given the price.

It has a stunning all-black finish and has ample heat sinks which give the board added stability. The additional heat sinks also make me feel secure in my PC build.

It also comes with more than enough USB 2 and USB 3 ports on the main IO. I also really liked the inclusion of the RGB support. It isn’t something I usually look for, but it was a nice touch.

I did have one issue though, the B450M comes with only one system fan header. In this case, you might think of installing a fan management device to avoid overheating. Luckily, I don’t really overclock my pc, so a simple 1:2 splitter lets me power both the front and back cases.”

“I had a few issues with the Gigabyte B450M DS3H. Firstly, the placement of the screw holes was really bad. There was only one screw hole on the right edge of the board, in the middle. This leaves the top right and bottom right corners of the board without any support.

It is also strange that there’s a screw hole in the middle along the right edge of the board. I had to drill an extra hole in my PC case to install support.

I also think that the manufacturer should make the board wider so that it can be properly supported. If I knew this was an issue, I wouldn’t have bought this board.”
