Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi (Our Review)

Overall Assessment

Despite the B450 Auros Pro Wi-Fi falling into the entry-level range, this motherboard offers users reliable performance and pleasing looks.

Gigabyte is a major manufacturing brand,  providing their customers with different budgets value-packed motherboards.

Supported Processors

The Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi supports AMD Ryzen series 5000 processors with the AM4 socket. It supports older 3rd, 2nd, and 1st generation Ryzen processors.

If you are not an AMD fan, check out our Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro review. The Z390 is a capable Intel-based motherboard.

RAM

There are 2x DDR4 DIMM slots, maxed out at 64GB of memory. This is great for a budget motherboard

If you’re looking for a motherboard that delivers even more power, you’ll get a kick from the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite.

Peripherals

There are only 4x SATA connectors instead of the standard 6. There’s also just a single M.2 port to expand storage options.

You’ll have plenty of options to connect external devices with 8x USB 3.1 (generation 1) and 2x USB 2.0 ports.

When looking at the networking capabilities of the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi, we see a significant improvement. The Aorus Pro comes with onboard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a Realtek 8118 GbE LAN chip.

However, it seems like the expanded networking features come at the cost of 2x SATA ports and an additional M.2 slot.

Graphics

There are 2x HDMI ports on the motherboard for anyone using an integrated graphics chip. The ports are perfect for dual monitor setups.

There is one dedicated PCIe x 16 (max bandwidth x16) slot for an external graphics card. It doesn’t support multi-graphics cards, which limits it in terms of its gaming capabilities.

If you want a Gigabyte motherboard that can max out your graphics card fantasies, have a look at our Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming K5 review.

Audio

A Realtek ALC1220-VB codec provides 7.1 channel HD audio on this motherboard. This decent mid-weight audio codec should be excellent in all but the most demanding instances.

Aesthetics

In true Auros tradition, the B450 Pro Wi-Fi has fantastic customization options. With the RGB Fusion software, you can customize several RGB zones, RGB Headers, and compatible accessories to create a unique light show.

The stylish black and silver color scheme is neutral enough not to detract from the lighting.

Conclusion

On paper, the Gigabyte Aorus B450 Elite looks to be an upgrade over its older sibling. It offers better overclocking along with improved networking.

Yet, we feel that the new features come at the cost of old favorites. Gigabyte aimed at delivering a motherboard that balances features and expenses, and they succeeded. However, the price paid may have been too much.
