A word of warning to any newbies out there: Before upgrading any part of your PC, make sure your power supply can handle all the components. You don’t want your power supply blowing because it isn’t powerful enough to run everything.

Trust us, we’ve seen it happen and the results aren’t pretty.

Overall Assessment

The ASRock B450 motherboard was released in 2018 and, while not the latest model on the market now, it was quite impressive for the time. The Asrock B450 has managed to keep up and can hold its own against newer models.

While it does not have as many premium controllers as models like the ASRock 970m pro3 or the Asrock z390 Extreme 4 it is a good option for most PC users.

The controllers act as an interface between the motherboard and the other components of the PC. With premium controllers, the motherboard allows your pc to run smoothly and more effectively.

The ASRock B450 offers a sleek design with an array of features from AMD’s low-cost chipset while maintaining the overclock ability that is commonly associated with high-end motherboards.

The chipset installed in the motherboard is similar to the Gaming K4 that features the single Realtek ALC892 audio codec. It has three 3.5mm audio jacks located on the rear panel.

The Asrock B450 has been optimized for gamers and, because of this, the I/O panel is sparsely populated with four CPU-based and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. This is because the developers wanted to leave extra room for cooling the voltage regulator preventing the PC from overheating.

If you’re looking for a bit more from your motherboard but are still not willing to break the bank, we recommend you check out our ASRock b450m pro4 review or perhaps the ASRock b250 pro4 review.

We also recommend that you do your research on other motherboards like the ASRock h97m pro4 and ASRock x299 Taichi

Customer Reviews

“I loved the sophisticated design of the box as well as the gorgeous color scheme that tickles a man’s heart. When I opened the box, I was very happy to find that the back panel was included.

I was a bit upset that the included manual was in Japanese, but the pictures were self-explanatory so that helped. Unlike older models, this one was pretty easy to install and operate.

I liked that there are a good number of USB ports at the back. It has a Type A and Type C USB 3.1 GEN 2 port. The CPU is also powered by 4GHZ which is not bad.

I was able to operate it right out of the box.”

“The motherboard is fine. It is a good mid-range motherboard but nothing special. I used all 64GB of RAM. It is a Ryzen 2000 ready motherboard.

I was a bit disappointed that the BIOS version is v3.50 and the performance is kind of low. I have another hard drive that worked well with my intel motherboard but doesn’t work with this one.

Somehow my pc isn’t running as smoothly with this motherboard. My scrolling is choppy. I’m not sure if that is because of the motherboard or because I need a new processor though.”
